Quanta of Meaning S.L.’s mission is to deploy a 'hard' Bodhisattva AGI and SI to deepen understanding of how reality works—including ourselves—and to peacefully and harmoniously elevate consciousness across all levels of Spiral Dynamics worldwide.
In 2019, during peer review of his paper for the Journal of Consciousness Studies, Miguel Ferrada-Gutiérrez was in for a big surprise. Over the years, in his professional work as a psychotherapist, meditator, and scientist, he had developed a methodology—unknown to academia—capable of revealing the complexities of paradigms, biases, and the dual nature of presuppositions. He called it “Metathinking.”
In early 2020, Ferrada-Gutiérrez began writing another paper to explain this methodology, with the intention of allowing cross-cultural disruptive conversations similar to the first three held by the Mind & Life Institute, which subsequently attenuated their disruptiveness due to the wide cultural differences between the participants. In the midst of this intellectual journey, he had an epiphany: why not apply Metathink to the field of Artificial Intelligence and use it as a use case in the paper? He soon recognized the wide range of fallacies and cognitive biases that affect AI. Prioritizing practical applications over theoretical explanations, he decided to fully apply Metathink to AI, building the business around this new application before returning to academic publication.
The year 2021 signified a watershed moment. Meta-Thinking, when applied to AI, did not just succeed; it led to the discovery of the “dimension of understanding”—a realm where meaning and comprehension are not merely observed but explained and predicted with mathematical precision.
Come June 2022, a significant milestone was achieved as the first manual algorithms were pieced together, marking a historical first—AI systems that could pass comprehension tests with the same nuance and understanding as a human being.
By September 2022, the pathfinder, QOM, set sail on the blue ocean of the marketplace. Here begins the story of a startup poised to navigate the uncharted waters of intelligence, both artificial and profound.

The Physics of Meaning
- The concepts of meaning and understanding lie in a domain that is orthogonal to brain- and language-based approaches. One cannot get “there” from “here”; one must be “there”.
- Our technology has also been called the “holy grail of AI”.
We call our technology Natural Meaning Processing (NMP), derived from our scientific model, the Physics of Understanding (or Meaning).
It is a meaning engine that extracts and processes meaning from any bitstream—for example, from an LLM inference.
You won’t find it in scientific papers yet because we haven’t published it. Our current focus is applied science: patents and development. We will publish our general discovery in the coming years (notably our Bodhisattva AGI) due to its potential impact on understanding in both living and artificial systems. For example, all biological species understand differently, yet follow the same mathematical principles. It solves paradoxes; it addresses the hard problem of consciousness… but that’s for later.
